My Role
As the UX maestro, I led the charge from initial research to final implementation. I wore many hats—user researcher, wireframing wizard, prototyping pro—all to create a seamless experience that resonates with users.
The Process
1.
Research
We began by conducting user interviews with students, faculty, and prospective students to understand their needs and pain points. This informed our decision to pr
2.
Sitemap & Wireframes
I created both current and future state versions of Blair’s sitemap, highlighting the changes needed to streamline the user journey. Wireframes were created to map out the new layout.
3.
Design & Prototyping
Using insights from our research I designed high fidelity prototypes that incorporates the FutureVU Design System. The designs were then iterated based on stakeholder feedback and usability testing.
4.
Implementation
I worked closely with our development team during the implementation phase, ensuring that the design was faithfully translated into the final product.
The Challenge
The Blair site was a bit tone-deaf, to be honest. Outdated design, clunky navigation, and the user experience didn’t do justice to their stellar programs. The challenge was clear: modernize the site while staying true to the school’s prestigious legacy.
The Solution
· The final design featured a clean, modern interface that aligned with Vanderbilt’s brand guidelines. Key improvements included a more intuitive navigation structure, enhanced visual appeal, and the integration of Blair’s sub-brand color to create a unique identity within the university’s broader design system.
The Impact
Post-launch, the redesigned website saw a significant increase in user engagement, with more visitors exploring content and participating in live streams. The Dean of the Music Department praised the project’s success in meeting and exceeding expectations.
